Let’s be serious here for just a moment, who doesn’t like pizza? I honestly have never met anyone in my life, ever, who didn’t like a good pizza just oozing with cheese! So for those times when you’re entertaining a crowd, I’ve got something a bit different for you that has all those delicious pizza flavors we all know and love but as a dip.

This Pizza Dip is so easy! I used frozen rolls today around the edge of the skillet to speed up the prep time on this dish. But it wouldn’t be pizza dip without the pizza sauce, so in between those layers of that cheesy dip, I added some pizza sauce as well. Which is why I mean it when I say that this will truly taste like pizza.

What Is Skillet Pizza Dip?

This cheesy dip is, how shall I put this, loaded with cheese, 3 different kinds of cheeses that is! We’re talking cream cheese, Parmesan cheese and lots and lots of Mozzarella cheese. And just because you do need something to dip in this awesome pizza dip, I used frozen bread rolls which are so easy to use, just grab them frozen from the bag and dip them in the garlic butter mixture, then arrange them around the edge of the skillet.

Ingredients

Rolls

  • Rolls – I used frozen today, it works perfectly great in this recipe and really speeds up the cook time.
  • Butter – Unsalted and melted down.
  • Garlic – Use as much or little as you like.
  • Parsley – Fresh chopped up fine.
  • Red pepper flakes – To add some heat to the dish.
  • Seasoning – Salt and pepper to taste.

Dip

  • Cheese – Today we’re using cream cheese, Mozzarella, and Parmesan.
  • Mayo – Any kind you’d like, it’ll help make our dip ultra creamy and rich.
  • Spices – Red pepper flakes and Italian seasoning are all we need for this dip.
  • Sauce – A jar of pizza sauce, it’ll keep this pizza nice and easy for us all.
  • Pepperoni – 1 entire stick cut up as thin or as thick as you’d like.
  • Parsley – Fresh chopped up nice and fine to be sprinkled at the end.
  • Seasoning – Salt and pepper to taste.

How To Make Skillet Pizza Dip

  1. Preheat your oven: To 400 F degrees. Spray a large skillet with cooking spray, if required. At this time you can take out the frozen dinner rolls from the freezer, they do not need to be thawed out.
  2. Prepare the rolls: Whisk together the butter, garlic, parsley, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Roll the frozen bread rolls through the butter mixture then arrange them around the outside of the edge of the skillet. Cover with a clean tea towel and let the bread rolls thaw out for about 20 minutes.
  3. Combine the dip: In the meantime, in a medium size bowl add the cream cheese, mayonnaise, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese and mix well using a spatula until everything is well combined. Add about 1 1/2 cups of the Mozzarella cheese to the mixture and mix to combine.
  4. Assemble your Pizza Skillet Dip: Spoon about half of the cheese mixture into the center of the skillet and spread it. Add the pizza sauce and spread it over the cheese mixture then spoon the rest of the cheese mixture. Sprinkle with the remaining half cup of mozzarella cheese then top with the pepperoni slices.
  5. Finish the dish: Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the bread rolls are baked and golden brown and the pizza dip is hot and bubbly. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

What To Serve With Skillet Pizza Dip

Like I said before, this dish is perfect for a hungry crowd. It’s dippable, shareable, and sure to win over even the pickiest eaters. If you’d like to make a big old spread for your next get together, with this dish as the star of course, here’s some drool worthy accompaniments!

  • Skillet Pull Apart Bread with Spinach and Artichoke Dip
  • Cheesy Chicken Meatball Rolls
  • Mini Corn Dogs
  • Potato Croquettes
  • Firecracker Shrimp
  • Firecracker Chicken Meatballs
  • The Ultimate Blue Cheese Buffalo Wings

Leftovers

Fridge

You can store this pizza dip in the fridge for 3 – 5 days, just hold off on adding the rolls till you’re ready to bake. Allow the dip to warm on the counter before popping in the oven.

Freezer

This dip can also be frozen! Assemble and place in the freezer in an airtight container before freezing for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw overnight in the fridge before baking according to recipe instructions.

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (ground)

  • 8 ounce cream cheese (whipped)
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ⅛ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (ground)
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce (store bought)
  • 1 stick pepperoni (sliced thinly)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)

  • Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Equipment

  • 12-inch Cast Iron Skillet

Notes

  1. My frozen dinner rolls came 12 in a bag, so I used a whole bag for this recipe, but some bags may contain 20 rolls. In that case, just freeze the remainder, or bake as instructed.
  2. I used whipped cream cheese to avoid having to mix the cream cheese with a mixer, but if you cannot find it or just have the blocks of cream cheese, make sure you leave it at room temperature for about 15 minutes, it will be easier to mix with a mixer.
